Our Philosophy
Why Urban Farming Now?

We are currently facing a variety of issues, including extreme heat and floods, climate change, the depletion of biodiversity, a decline in food self-sufficiency, loneliness, the decline of local communities, and social inclusion. It is said that by 2050, 70% of the world's population will be urban dwellers, and the key to solving these problems is said to be the transformation of "cities."
Now, a regenerative lifestyle called "urban farming," in which people and nature coexist, is garnering worldwide attention. It is an agricultural lifestyle in which people, not full-time farmers, but company employees or people of any other occupation, grow and share food with others.

Six Roles of Urban Farming, from "Urban Farming Life"
We believe that urban farming is not just about growing vegetables, but also about regenerating human connections and the cycle of diverse life, and by spreading it as a catalyst for changing the awareness of many people, it can help solve global and social issues.
What We Value

The 4 values indicated in the four circles in the diagram above are circulation, creativity, community and wellbeing. Many circulations are born from the creativity of each individual and the co-creation of people and nature. We want to create communities where people can connect and feel the well-being beyond the differences of consumer and producer, urban and rural, age, gender, occupation, etc. We will develop various activities centered on these four elements with participating members and make use of the resources in the local area.
Learning by Creating
An open commons where we learn by creating together
At ART FARM IKEJIRI, rather than renting a completed farm as a "consumer," we aim to foster connections between people, and between people and nature, by learning from each other as creative members (individuals and corporations) who "create together."
Through workshops with various experts, including plant specialists and permaculture designers, we plan to create planters, tables, bio-geofilters, and more. Let's have fun creating together!

Our Vision
Towards an ecosystem where cities and regions circulate
ART FARM IKEJIRI is not limited to Ikejiri.
What if more and more urban farms were built on rooftops and vacant land in cities across the country?

In addition, while cities are overpopulated and have little nature, rural areas are facing population decline, a lack of successors, and an increase in abandoned farmland and vacant land. We would like to become a "gateway" that connects consumers and producers and creates an ecosystem that circulates between cities and regions by collaborating with key people in each region to hold markets, workshops, and retreat tours by farmers and foresters, mainly within a 50km radius of the metropolitan area, about an hour from the city center.
