Katsuhiko Ono (Katsu)
After gaining diverse business experience at Hakuhodo, he became involved in producing "Tokyo Urban Farming" and "Tokyo Art Farm" before going independent.
"Three years ago, we started asking ourselves, what is an agricultural lifestyle? And now we want to share with everyone the joy of urban farming and the comfort of the community that comes together around it."
Norika Ishida

"Let's bring the Milky Way to Tokyo! If the rooftops of major cities around the world were covered in greenery, we would surely experience peace."
Phil Cashman
Permaculture Designer & Instructor / Representative of Permaculture AWA
"ART FARM IKEJIRI" aims to foster a vibrant community where young people in Tokyo can reconnect with nature in a creative and fun way. The rooftop garden will be a living laboratory for creative expression of permaculture design, and is a hopeful project to create a fun, regenerative, circular and beautiful future for Tokyo with everyone's power and creativity."
Natsuko Takasago
SOIL MATE Founder
At Art Farm, we want to share the joy of connecting with nature in the city, and the joy of “harvesting” electricity from nature's circulation system.
"I believe that creating a new rooftop culture will nurture not only plants, but also our inner nature. I want to experience the sense of relief that comes from being aware of the workings of nature, even in the city. I hope Art Farm can cultivate a unique ecosystem that can only be created in the city, and put into practice a new way of doing urban farms in the heart of Tokyo."
Masami Takasago
SOIL MATE & Studio 9%
"Put down your phone, move your hands, take in the sky, and slowly but surely add to this little piece of nature. Your imagination will finally become your creation! May we create a new era and scenery together with all the people who are connected under the same sky." (Masami)
Marie Kouzu
Botanical therapist, writer, editor
"I am grateful for the opportunity to work with everyone to create a place where nature, people, and lifestyles can connect and utilize each other in a balanced way within the city. I hope to be able to share the wisdom of botanical therapy with you from time to time, and to make good use of the plants that grow here for health and beauty. I look forward to working with you."

Cultural activist: "The baton was passed on to me after my father's death during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a practice of regenerative lifestyle and culture research that regenerates people, regions, cities, and the planet, and as my life's work, I would like to work with many friends to make ART FARM a model that can be spread to cities and regions across the country!"

Our Story

"ART FARM IKEJIRI" began with connections made through the book " Urban Farming Life ," which featured interviews with 12 urban farms and key people in Tokyo, and an encounter with the rooftop of the former Ikejiri Junior High School site.

It feels so good to step onto the rooftop and see the vast expanse of blue skies. The thought naturally welled up in my mind: "I want to use nature and everyone's creativity to create the most pleasant place in Tokyo!" So I decided to take on a new challenge with my colleagues!

We will develop this place as a "third place in the city where people and nature can connect," where people of all ages, genders, and nationalities can come together to create a cycle through diverse "ART (technology)" that people and nature create together, and we will cultivate a sophisticated "FARM (farm/cultivation)" culture that regenerates people, regions, cities, and the environment.
ART FARM was born through the support of many people and collaboration with various partners in crowdfunding , which was conducted in preparation for the grand opening in July 2025. We would like to once again thank everyone for their support!
